Ladder Policies and Procedures
A ladder is a club organized event designed for players to compete in a social yet leveled and competitive play environment geared towards player development and community building. The purpose of these policies and procedures is to ensure our ladders are fun, fair, and well-balanced. We encourage good sportsmanship and a positive attitude.
Ladder Formats
-
A minimum of 8 players are required for a ladder. If there are not at least 8 players registered, the ladder will be cancelled 1-hour prior to the event.
-
Participants will be taken on a first come first serve basis. If there is a waitlist, participants will be moved up from the waitlist on a first come first serve basis.
-
If you are unable to attend the ladder, you must withdraw at least 2 hours prior to the ladders start time.
-
Ladders can be fixed partner or rotating partner. This format will be listed on the event description in court reserve. Rotating partner ladders do not require participants to have a pre-arranged partner. If a ladder is scheduled as fixed partner and you do not have a partner, please contact one of our Pickleball Pro’s or the front desk for assistance in finding a partner.
-
Ladders will be managed using the Swish App. Ladder participants are required to download and register with the Swish app prior to attending a ladder. If you need assistance downloading and registering with the Swish App, please ask one of our pickleball staff members for assistance.
-
Games will be played to 11, win by 2. Games will be timed at 13 minutes. If there is no winner determined prior to the time expiring winner will be determined by a single sudden death point.
-
Ladders will be facilitated by a ladder volunteer. If you participate in a ladder and wish to volunteer to facilitate your ladder, please email thecwpavilion@gmail.com or speak to the front desk.
-
Ladder formats may vary for specific events. These variations will be communicated in advance.
Skill Level Requirements
-
The DUPR rating system will be used to determine a player’s appropriate placement in a ladder. If you do not have a DUPR rating, please ask one of our Pickleball Pro’s for assistance in creating a DUPR account and getting registered for one of our DUPR rating session. If you would like to participate in a ladder prior to attending a DUPR rating session, please speak with one of our Pro’s so they can make a ladder recommendation until you are able to attend a DUPR rating session.
-
Players must compete within the level range of their designated ladder. For example, if you have a DUPR rating of 3.25 you may only play in the 3.0-3.5 ladder and not the 3.5 to -4.0 ladder or the 2.5-3.0 ladder.
-
Playing up or down in a ladder division is only permitted with prior approval of a club staff member.
-
Players will only be allowed to participate in 4 ladders without obtaining a DUPR rating.
-
If you have a question about the Skill Level requirements, please reach out to one of our Pickleball Pro’s.
-
Players playing outside of their designated skill level range may be removed from ladders without notice.
